New experiment on CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) opened the possibility of the existence of multiverses, despite being a reasonable possibility

New experiment on CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) opened the possibility of the existence of multiverses, despite being a reasonable possibility. In fact, this discovery means that science and religion are not totally incompatible.

At CERN there was the opening of a series of scientific meetings of the Nobel Laureate Carlo Rubbia, professor in the University of Torino, the University of Oxford and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ). At the last of these, it was presented by the scientist a theory that there are possible universes, of which our universe is not the only one. Rubbia is a physicist who studies the properties of atoms and elementary particles. In his work, he has always been convinced of the necessity of taking an objective stance on the phenomena of the world, not the other way round. This way of being, was for him at the origin of the need of a theory on which there can be a natural order to the phenomena of the world.

Multiverses is a theory developed by the American theoretical physicist Lee Smolin in his book « The Case for the Multiverse ». In it, he argues that the laws of nature are compatible with the existence of a multiplicity of universes, even of infinite number, in other words, there is more than one universe. This is possible thanks to quantum theory, which assumes that the universe is quantum and is made of small particles, which it is not made of material points or things. Moreover, according to quantum mechanics, the universe can exist in several different states at the same time, but without changing, which according to Smolin does not mean that there can be changes in the laws of physics.

But what is the case? How can we get these universes? Are they possible?

Smolin says that his theory has something to do with what is called the wave function of the universe. In the beginning of the 20th century, Austrian physicist Ludwig Boltzmann said that the universe can only move towards one of the possible states where it is possible to find its current state, even if there are infinite possible states. Boltzmann, called his theory « wave equation of the universe ». According to Smolin, Smolin's theory can be translated into the wave equation of the universe. His wave equation can lead to the creation of universes.

According to Smolin's theory, universes exist everywhere, and at the same time. Therefore, the wave function of the universe has a real physical representation. Each universe has a wave function of its own, which describes all the possible universes in the universe, and all the universes are related to each other by the wave function of the universe. If you consider one universe, the wave function of the universe is the superposition of the wave functions of all the possible universes that it is made of, and these universes are in turn superposed.

According to Smolin, there are at least 10^500 possible universes (with 10^500 being a number with a 1 followed by 500 zeros) in the known universe. For this reason, the "wave function of the universe" is actually a distribution that contains many wave functions that can all be linked to each other. The only way we could identify this distribution as being one and only one "wave function of the universe" would be if it were a unique function that represents the state of the universe and if this function was completely unknown. But, according to Boltzmann's law, the wave function of the universe is the only possible distribution that can describe the current state of the universe. In other words, the wave function of the universe can only describe one unique possible state of the universe, even if there are many possible states.

The fact that many universes exist at the same time is an extremely radical theory and is not well-regarded by most physicists. Some physicists believe that it is possible that the universe only exists in a single state, and then, by some mysterious quantum force, split into multiple universes. However, this theory remains highly controversial, especially since it is difficult to explain how the initial state of the universe splits into many states.

For the sake of simplicity, physicists generally take a deterministic view when it comes to the laws of physics. For this reason, they will say that we have a single wave function, rather than a distribution. One consequence of this assumption is that physicists cannot say how many universes exist. For the time being, it seems that we must settle for ten or at most 20 universes. At the same time, we cannot determine which universes do or do not exist.

Can we ever know which universe we are in?

The only way we can possibly know what universe we are in would be if we had the ability to travel back in time. But time travel has not been scientifically proven to be possible. For this reason, it is difficult to say what universe we are in.

In the case of string theory, there are 10^500 possible universes and string theory allows them to all exist. Thus, it seems that we cannot say what universe we are in.

This does not mean that there are multiple universes. It means that any one of these universes could exist. If we were to travel back in time, we could find ourselves in any one of these possible universes. The question is which of the 10^500 universes are actually in existence.

This raises another important question: Can we know whether there is actually a universe out there or whether our own consciousness is the product of some sort of quantum mind? This would be a more important question in quantum mechanics, since the uncertainty principle in quantum mechanics would allow the possibility that our universe was a "dream."

However, at this point, it seems that we don't know for certain if the universe exists at all. At this point, it is really a mystery. It is possible that the universe is virtual reality in which everything is an illusion or hologram. Alternatively, it could be a place where many universes exist but are so small that we cannot perceive them.

If this is the case, it means that we can be in any of them. Our own reality is not necessarily special. However, this would mean that we can choose where we end up. So, by thinking about where we want to end up, we might have the ability to end up there.

In fact, this is already possible with science. Scientists are attempting to build "quantum computers" which would be able to make a calculation that we could not accomplish with the regular computer. Quantum mechanics allows them to do this. It is even possible that this may be possible in the near future. This could mean that the future of our lives will be affected by our thoughts and actions, since quantum computers can make highly complex calculations with enormous speeds.

So, if this is the case, this means that we can control the future by our own actions and thoughts. Thus, our own lives are already being controlled by our thoughts and actions. But this still does not explain the rest of the universe. There are at least other dimensions. We can only conclude that our own reality is limited and special.

11.5 Our Reality, Our Science, Our Limitations

I believe that our reality is limited, even our science is limited. What we call science is a set of hypotheses that we develop to explain a phenomenon or a pattern. In fact, this is one of the most useful ways in which we learn and develop. But, I believe that there are limits to what science can say. I am not arguing against science. But I am trying to point out that we have developed the rules and principles of science to develop a model of the universe, but we have developed this model with so much reliance on our own senses that we are not using all of our senses, at least not as much as we could. And, we are not able to see as far into space and into the past and the future as we would like to.

As you have been reading, I am making you think that science cannot explain everything. Therefore, when we talk about God or about the supernatural, we are talking about something that we do not yet fully understand. But this is not an argument against God. God is not the type of entity that would force us to live a bad life in this universe. God is our Creator and gives us the power to control our thoughts and to live in harmony with each other. God is not a God that commands us to do the bad things, the mean things, the wrong things. This is not God's way, not God's will.

We will have to agree to disagree about God's existence and power. That's okay. I'm not going to try to force you into believing me. That's okay too. So, let's get back to what I was saying about physics and science.

We say that Einstein was the most influential scientist of all time. This is partly because of his theory of relativity and the development of the theory of quantum mechanics, two of the most important scientific theories of all time.

The theory of relativity was so exciting to the scientists that it was written about in newspapers, it was printed on postcards, and, I believe, a lot of people who had heard about Einstein's theory of relativity, they sent it to their friends. So, it really is something that changed the way we think about the universe and science in general.

Now, before we get into the science of quantum mechanics, let's look at the science of thermodynamics. If I could use just a few equations to summarize what I am about to tell you, these are the three equations. You can go and look at these equations at the internet and on your phone. You can do this. You can google "thermodynamics equations." All you need to do is press search, put thermodynamics, and you will get a bunch of pages that give you these three equations. These three equations, they are all about energy and heat.

It says that energy can be created or destroyed, it can be transferred or shared with the universe. So, if we can create energy and we can also transfer or share energy with the universe, this means that we have the ability to have a universe. If the universe is the total energy in the universe, we know that at the subatomic level we have been measuring the total energy of the universe. We measure the total energy in an extremely powerful collision called the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. And, just like the universe, we have some energy at the subatomic level. We know that the total energy of the universe, the total amount of energy in the universe at the subatomic level, is a number that was given in a paper by Einstein and Newton in the 19th century. And we know that there is this number that we measure in this experiment and we just keep measuring it.

In order to make a universe, we must have energy. The energy that we must have is this number that Einstein and Newton calculated. And it is the energy that we have, the universe. If we want to create a universe, we must make sure that we have this number of energy. And to make a universe, all we have to do is create that number of energy. And it is not just any number. It is a very specific number, a really specific number. And that specific number is the number that we measure in our experiments at CERN. And that number is 1.000000000000000000000000000000000000 (10^38).

And so, what are we doing? What do we do? We are making a universe. That is it. We are creating a universe.

And that's enough of that.
