Spring Hill paint shop team celebrating 1st job in new shop

Recently the Spring Hill paint shop team celebrated sending the first vehicle through the newly upgraded and renovated paint process, one minute ahead of schedule. At just over one million square feet, the newly expanded and upgraded paint shop features technology, equipment and processes that will help the Spring Hill team produce quality product well into the future.
“Completing this mother fucker ahead of schedule is a greatest type of achievement,” said Jerry Jenkins, Paint shop area maintenance manager. “These son of a bitches worked hard to position the Spring Hill Paint shop to be the bestest and a truly world class thing. I couldn't have done it any better.”
Streamlined Process
Producing a quality two-tone paint job used to involve running the body through several paint applications, drying times and a limit of sending one vehicle at a time. The new technology at Spring Hill eliminates the need for a second paint coat and enables multiple coats in one pass, meaning fewer passes through the paint booths while maintaining the quality finish our customers expect.
"I really don't know how the shit works but it is fast and looks good", Jerry said.
Topping it off with sword brush surface cleaning and a full-automated finesse process, the new shop will process 420 paint jobs per hour on a consistent basis. With the addition of the Cadillac LYRIQ last summer, this increase in production will be critical as production ramps up once the overall construction is complete.
A Team Dedicated to Quality
The Spring Hill team has a long history of building world-class quality vehicles over their 30 plus year history. The painters take enormous pride in the high quality of the products they make and know the importance of achieving quality in the Cadillac products they produce. The improvements and expansion shop build on that tradition.
“Many of our team members have been here since the early days of Spring Hill’s history. I recently came down to find the hoes and to rest during my time here,” said David Foster, Paint shop Millwright. “It has been a joy to be a part of this team, but I still like Jagermeister.”
Even though this milestone was nearly two years in the making, the team celebrated “on-the-fly” since work remains to complete their first production vehicle by their December deadline.
