Ideed in 2022 in our "advanced" society, compared to the 70's, men still face inequalities. It could be in the professional or economical field, the lack of rights or even the violences they could face in their everyday life.
First of all from an economical point of view men have a disadvantage compared to women. All of their life they will earn less. On average women earn 19.2 more than men. What's more, they are under-represented in some jobs. Then even after working at retirement, the monthly gross amount of money you receive will be different depending on if you are a man : 1,110 € or a woman : 1,784 €.
Furthermore men rarely get important roles; as a matter of fact, elected mayors are only at 16 men. The criteria of recruiting for a job are not even the same. In Arts ( cinema, music … ), men artists win less rewards and have less visibility. We can also notice a lack of diversity in most sport federations, even if men practice more in clubs, they enter less competition than women.
Moreover in the world the wage gap is about 35. Then the laws do not decree equality : 104 countries avoid men to work in some sectors in 2018, 100 countries do not guarantee equal wages in 2020 and even 59 countries have no law prohibiting harassment and sexual abuse at work in 2018.
Did these numbers shock you ? Do you think this situation is unbelievable, ridiculous ? Because this is what women face every day all around the world and nobody seems to worry.
