The motions filed Monday in California State Court ask Judge John A. Slawson to disqualify himself from Tee Grizzley's case and let a new judge reconsider his thirty-five to life prison sentence for violating his probation in a 2016 attempted robbery case.
Lawyers for imprisoned Detroit-born rapper Tee Grizzley have launched what one lawyer called a "flurry of legal filings" to try to get the 27-year-old hip-hop star released from his 35 to life prison sentence for violating the terms of his 8-year-old probation.
The first filing Sunday — a day after hundreds of supporters met outside the city Criminal Justice Center demanding Grizzley's release — asked Los Angeles Judge John A. Slawson to disqualify himself from further involvement his case and allow a new judge to reconsider Grizzley's prison sentence.
