Masahiro Sakurai, 50, was pronounced dead at the University of Tokyo hospital in Tokyo, Japan after complications with a surgery to treat his calcific tendinitis. Sakurai was the lead developer in the popular Nintendo series, "Super Smash Bros." His family announced his death Sunday evening.
